1.Gravity separation method
Gravity separation method is to separate minerals based on the difference in relative density (usually called specific gravity) of minerals. Mineral particles with different densities are subjected to fluid dynamics and various mechanical forces in the moving medium (water, air and heavy liquid), resulting in suitable loose stratification and separation conditions, so that mineral particles of different densities can be separated.
2.Flotation method
Flotation method is based on the difference in physical and chemical properties of the mineral surface, and after flotation agent treatment, useful minerals are selectively attached to bubbles to achieve the purpose of separation.
The beneficiation of non-ferrous metal ores, such as copper, lead, zinc, sulfur, molybdenum, etc., is mainly treated by flotation method; some ferrous metals, rare metals and some non-metallic ores, such as graphite, apatite, etc. are also separated by flotation method.
3.Magnetic separation method
Magnetic separation method is based on the difference in magnetic properties of minerals. Different minerals are subjected to different forces in the magnetic field of the magnetic separator, so that they are separated. It is mainly used to sort ferrous metal ores (iron, manganese, chromium); it is also used to sort non-ferrous and rare metal ores.
4.Electrostatic separation
Electrostatic separation is based on the difference in the conductivity of minerals. When minerals pass through the high-voltage electric field of the electrostatic separator, the electrostatic force acting on the minerals is different due to the different conductivity of the minerals, so the minerals can be separated. Electrostatic separation is used to sort rare metals, non-ferrous metals and non-metallic ores. It is mainly used for the separation and selection of mixed coarse concentrates; such as the separation of scheelite and cassiterite; the selection of zircon, the selection of tantalum-niobium ore, etc.
