Environmental issues are becoming more and more important. Polyurethane Screen Panel is used in many industries and is considered better than plastic. So what is the reason for this?

What is plastic?

Plastics are a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic materials that use polymers as a main ingredient. Their plasticity makes it possible for plastics to be mouldedextruded or pressed into solid objects of various shapes. It follows that plastics are manufactured through human industrial systems. It breaks down slowly in natural ecosystems and most of it that cannot be recycled will continue to exist in the environment in the form of plastic.

The family of plastics typically includes materials with a variety of chemical compositions, including variations of carbon and hydrogen molecules. Examples of plastics include polyethylene, PVC, nylon, and ABS. thermoset polyurethanes are not technically considered “plastics”. Instead, the long flexible polymer molecules that contain the thermoset polyurethane make the material a true elastomer. Typically, thermoset polyurethanes are cast or reaction injection molded (RIM), while plastics are usually injection molded. Unlike thermoset polyurethanes, plastics tend to remain permanently deformed or even break when subjected to stretching, abrasion or impact.

What is polyurethane?

Polyurethanes, often abbreviated as PUR and PU, are a class of polymers consisting of organic units connected by urethane chain links. Polyurethane combines the strength of plastic with the elasticity of rubber to form a new type of material. Therefore, it is extremely wear-resistant and has a longer service life.

Polyurethanes offer unique advantages in applications where alternative materials are difficult to compete with. Polyurethane offers unique properties because it combines the strength provided by plastic compounds while maintaining elastic properties similar to rubber compounds. These properties provide excellent impact resistance, even at high levels of stiffness, making polyurethanes ideal for long-life performance in a range of applications.

Polyurethanes perform well in a wide range of environments, and harsh environmental conditions and exposure to chemicals will not cause the material to degrade. Polyurethanes also exhibit good electrical insulation properties, which is also beneficial in many applications.

On an environmental level:

Plastics are one of the reasons for fracking. Ethane is needed to make plastics, and one way to get it is through fracking. In order to get the fossil fuels needed to make plastics, energy must be consumed. So in reality, making plastic is not very environmentally friendly. Fracking damages the environment because it uses chemicals, large amounts of water, and high-pressure sand to destroy underground rock formations. Not only does it harm the earth, but it also causes air pollution through the methane it releases.

Not all plastics are recyclable. Unfortunately, many of these plastics are also recycled. Too much plastic ends up in landfills and is never used again. Many plastics last forever in landfills, waterways, and other natural areas. And, despite the fact that there is so much plastic in the world, more is being made all the time.

Polyurethane can help combat climate change. Materials used in a wide range of products help protect the environment. Polyurethanes can be recycled back to their original form as polyols. Polyurethanes do not contain chemicals that damage endocrine or hormonal systems. Polyurethanes also do not alter the pH of soil or water. Polyurethane does not need to be sent to special facilities for recycling; it can be recycled at job sites and factories.

On the effectiveness of the use:

Plastic has a high degree of hardness, so it can break and fracture frequently in use. Polyurethane’s flexible qualities lead to polyurethane screen panels are more resilient and impact resistant. When impacted, it can use its own elasticity to recover to its original shape, and its service life is far greater than that of plastic screen panels.

Compared with plastic, polyurethane screen panels can play a better role in shock absorption and sound insulation. And polyurethane is more wear-resistant than plastic. In a variety of harsh conditions, polyurethane can show high quality flexibility and wear resistance.

Polyurethane screen panels are also more versatile than plastic. Polyurethane can be customized according to different requirements. Colors, thicknesses, shapes and hardnesses can be made to meet specific needs.

AURY’s screen panels are divided into stainless steel panels with polyurethane edges and full polyurethane panels.

Polyurethane framed stainless steel screen panels are a stainless steel frame wrapped in a layer of polyurethane. This ensures the hardness of the screen panels and at the same time makes them flexible. When the material is screened, it can play the effect of shock absorption, wear resistance and noise reduction.

Full polyurethane screen panels are poured upon request. It can present different shapes and effects.

If the plastic sieve plate is used, due to the plastic has a certain hardness. It will have the disadvantage of high noise when the material is sieved. And the plastic will have a lot of cracks under long time vibration and impact. In order to ensure the continuous operation of the project, it is necessary to replace the plastic screen plate parts frequently. This increases the workload of employees to a certain extent.

That’s why AURY offers screen panels cast in polyurethane. It not only solves the customer’s worry about the pollution environment, but also improves the customer’s production efficiency.
