A vibrating screen, also known as a vibratory sieve or vibratory separator, is a device used to separate particles by size through the application of vibration. It consists of a screen mesh or surface which vibrates in order to separate particles based on their size or shape. Vibrating screens are commonly used in industries such as mining, construction, agriculture, and recycling to efficiently sort and classify materials.

It is suitable for a feed particle size of 0-5mm and is used for dewatering froth coal and coal slurry during transportation in coal mines, as well as dewatering fine sand in non-coal applications.

4. Vibrating screen parameters

  • Amplitude of vibrating screen

Generally, the larger the vibrating screen model, the larger the amplitude selected. Because the greater the amplitude of the vibrating screen, the less clogging of the screen holes will be, which is more conducive to the screening and stratification of ores and better screening production capacity. The selection of vibrating screen amplitude is usually determined by the particle size and properties of the ore. When the ore particles are small, moist and have a certain degree of viscosity, we need to use low frequency and large amplitude.

  • Vibration frequency of vibrating screen

The vibration frequency has a direct impact on the beating state of the ore particles on the screen surface. Taking the high-frequency vibrating screen as an example, its high frequency destroys the surface tension of the slurry very well, causing the fine-grained materials to oscillate at high speed on the screen surface, accelerating the separation of useful minerals, and at the same time increasing the separation of materials smaller than the separation particle size from the screen. The probability of hole contact thus creates good screening conditions.

  • Screen surface inclination angle of vibrating screen

The inclination angle of the Vibrating Screens is determined based on the material application and actual production needs. For fine screening, it is recommended to use a horizontal vibrating screen; if the particle size of the screened material is large and the screening rate is good, an inclination angle of 5-10° can be used; if the particles are large and excessively powdered, an inclination angle of 15° can be used. The premise of a reasonable range of vibrating screen inclination angle is that the material particles are evenly distributed. Different types of vibrating screens have different installation inclination angles. The installation inclination angle of high-frequency vibrating screen is about 30°, the inclination angle of general-purpose vibrating screen is 0-15°, while the discharging end of the vibrating screen for dehydration is tilted upward (often said negative angle).
